SCIP Youth
SCIP Youth is a free universal youth group for young people aged 11 – 18 where we explore a wide range of creative practices and have a lot of fun in the process!
We focus on encouraging members to really explore their own creativity and to enjoy the process more than worrying about the outcomes. We also provide opportunities for SCIP Youth to be part of shaping how they access culture and what workshops and activities we offer. We value young peoples voices and input to the programme, and always listen and respond to their feedback.
We work hard to offer this service free of charge to ensure that everyone can access SCIP Youth regardless of family income.
Safe & Inclusive
We pride ourselves on providing a safe and inclusive environment for all our members, everyone is welcome regardless of background, race, sexuality or culture.
SEND
We welcome individuals with SEND and are happy to make any reasonable adjustments needed to ensure they can access SCIP Youth. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your child’s needs.
When?
SCIP Youth currently meets one Saturday a month for a three-hour workshop. This service is oversubscribed so sessions do book up fast. We are working hard to grow the service to two sessions a month to provide workshops to more members and hope to facilitate that in early 2025.
How do I book?
You will need to register you child with the SCIP Youth programme manager Alice first by emailing alice@wearescip.co.uk.
We take all the workshop bookings via Eequ so please set up an account.
When workshops are available to book into you will receive an email with booking links!
What else does SCIP Youth do?
In 2025 we are hoping to offer an open studio service to SCIP Youth members, a cultural trip and opportunities to be part of building a large paper installation!
My child is very anxious can I stay?
Yes, you are very welcome to stay if your child needs you to.
What happens if my child can’t attend every session?
This is not a problem, you just book into the sessions you can!
Do I need to send my child with anything?
You will need to ensure they are wearing appropriate clothing for an art workshop, and have any medicines with them that they may need! A water bottle is a good idea, but other than that no.
I have more questions!
No worries, please email Alice on alice@wearescip.co.uk and she will gladly answer all your questions.
How can I support the SCIP Youth Programme?
You and your family do not have to make a donation to be part of SCIP Youth, it is a free service for our community. However if you would like to you can make a donation to support our programme at any time using our Local Giving account, and if you would like to discuss your donation or become a corporate supporter please drop us an email at hello@wearescip.co.uk and one of the team will be in touch!
Safeguarding
Guardians are welcome to stay with SCIP Youth members during the meetups, we will be providing teas and coffees and probably some biscuits! However you are welcome to leave your young people with us, staff and volunteers have advanced DBS Checks - copies of which can be provided on request. Staff have first aid training and SCIP has safeguarding policies and procedures in place. Our safeguarding officers are Alice Carter and trustee Angela Raven whom you are welcome to speak to at anytime if you have any questions regarding your childs care during a SCIP Youth meetup.
