Join The SCIP Team as a Volunteer
As SCIP grows, so too does our army of amazing volunteers. Without volunteers our projects and events would not be possible, and we pride our selves on creating a really fun volunteer experience for everyone. We have a number of volunteer opportunities, but if you feel you can offer something we haven’t listed below please do get in touch!
Workshop Volunteer
To be a workshop volunteer you need to be confident talking with people and working with young people! Experience in a creative field, or education is often a real help but not essential.
The workshops can vary from making lanterns with 500 children in one day, to more intimate small groups of young people working on a project.
You will never be left alone with young people, and if your role with us grows we will require an advanced DBS to be completed. Full training on the workshop will be provided, and also health & safety and safeguarding.
Stewarding
At our exhibitions we often need some extra stewards to care for our visitors. This will involve speaking with visitors about the artworks, the themes of the exhibition and SCIP in general.
You must be confident speaking with people, and represent SCIP with passion and positivity. Full training given.
Regular Volunteers.
Next year we are aiming to ensure our new premises in Seaford is open regular hours, and to help make this a reality we do need some volunteers who can commit to opening up, stewarding and closing our new exhibition space regularly in 2023. We are particularly keen to find people who can take on a Saturday or Sunday, but mid-week will also be useful!
A background in customer service would be ideal, as you will be representing the charity and will need to confident dealing with customers, making and handling sales and dealing with general enquires. We need people who are confident in approaching visitors, and in taking on the responsibility of opening up.
Full training will be given. This is a purely voluntary role, however we will provide refreshments and meals where required.
If you feel you could commit to a regular day opening the gallery next year please get in touch. This volunteer role will require an informal interview, a reference and advanced DBS. Please note that we may not feel you are right for this role and recommend a different way of helping SCIP!
If you would like to become a SCIP volunteer please email hello@wearescip.co.uk with some information about your background, and skills set and we look forward to seeing you soon!
